2005 PortfolioGold Medal, 2007 Canadian Wine Awards $47.00
Portfolio 2005 is a blend of Merlot 59%, Cabernet Sauvignon 33%, Malbec 4%, Cabernet Franc 3% and Petit Verdot 1%. The wine is aged 20 months in 40% new French Oak barrels. The result is a classic wine that begins with cocoa, almond and cassis on the nose. Velvety raspberry and dark chocolate flavours integrate with dry tannins on the palate and complete with a full-bodied finish. The new varietals of Malbec and Petit Verdot included in the blend bring some spice and complexity harmonizing nicely with the clarity of the concentrated dark fruit foundation.
